Philly Steak Cheese Fries

Crispy fries topped with tender, seasoned steak, sautéed peppers, onions, and gooey, melty cheese — a perfect indulgent snack or a hearty meal.

📋 Ingredients:
For the Steak and Vegetables:
1 lb steak, thinly sliced (ribeye or sirloin works best)

1 tsp garlic salt

½ tsp ground black pepper

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp olive oil

For the Cheese Fries:
20 oz bag of waffle fries (McCain Quick Cook or your choice)

8-10 slices White American cheese (or provolone for an authentic Philly taste)

📝 Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Cook the Steak:
Heat an oven-safe skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.

Add 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Season the thinly sliced steak with garlic salt and black pepper.

Add the steak to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.

Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

  1. Sauté the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, keep 1 tablespoon of the steak juices and discard the rest.

Add the sliced green bell pepper and onion.

Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender but still slightly crisp.

Remove and set aside.

  1. Bake the Fries:
Spread the waffle fries in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until they are golden and crispy.

  1. Assemble the Philly Steak Cheese Fries:
If using an oven-safe skillet, assemble directly in the skillet. Otherwise, use a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Add a layer of the cooked waffle fries.

Place 4 slices of White American cheese over the fries.

Add the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables evenly over the cheese.

Layer with the remaining cheese slices on top.

  1. Melt the Cheese:
Return the skillet or baking dish to the oven.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  1. Serve:
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot.

For an extra touch, drizzle with ranch dressing, hot sauce, or garlic aioli.

✨ Pro Tips:
For Extra Flavor: Marinate the steak in Worcestershire sauce for 15 minutes before cooking.

Cheese Options: Use a mix of provolone and White American cheese for a more authentic Philly taste.

Crispier Fries: Broil the fries for the last 2-3 minutes for an extra crispy finish.

Customize: Add sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños for extra flavor.
